The Conservation & Waste Reduction Department advances campus sustainability by promoting responsible waste management while supporting the transition to clean energy systems. The team develops educational signage, leads community engagement initiatives, and collaborates with residence hall staff to reduce contamination and support UC Berkeley’s Zero Waste goals, ensuring that students of all backgrounds are informed about proper waste sorting and understand the connections between waste practices and environmental injustices. The team also evaluates energy use in dining and residence halls and advocates for clean energy solutions.
